Robert LeBrun, Owner

Robert has had an interest in all things mechanical since he was 13, and rebuilt his first engine while still at school. He started in the Automotive Industry in 1977, working with all types of machines from lawnmowers to harvesting equipment.

Robert’s working life has revolved around Hospitality, Automotive and Earthmoving Industries. He has held management positions with The Southern Pacific Corporation, and was the Project Manager at various Earthmoving sites.

Robert has owned and managed petrol stations and automotive repair workshops for the past 21 years, and has been focusing solely on his 3 Automotive Workshops since 2004. The newest workshop, Automotive Solutions Vogel Street, proudly features the latest exhaust technology and the most qualified exhaust technicians in the South Island. Robert enjoys being a part of the nationally recognised Automotive Solutions group, which gives his team a huge resource of technical information and support.

In his spare time, Robert’s hobbies are spending time outdoors, travelling and off-road motorcycling. He is the very proud father of 3 children and loves spending time with his family.

Stu Kerr - Workshop Manager, Anzac Avenue

Stu heads our team of technicians, and has been with Automotive Solutions for 13 years with 46 years experience in the Automotive Industry.

Stu has worked in General Motors and Volkswagon Franchises, and has overseas experience in Canada. He has previously owned his own Automotive business for a number of years. Stu is a certified mechanic with WOF Authority and Diagnostic Skills.

Stu enjoys motor sport and flying in his spare time, and also has an interest in English Classic Cars.

Steve Kennedy – Technician

Born and bred in Dunedin, Steve has worked in the Automotive Industry for 20 years servicing all makes and models of vehicles.

He is an authorised vehicle inspector and has worked at Automotive Solutions for the past seven years.

His interests are sport, restoring his Mk II Escort Sport and D.I.Y repairs around his own home.

Wilbert Stockman (Wil) – Technician

Wil has been a mechanic for 40 years in New Zealand and abroad. He started in the industry as a diesel mechanic on earthmoving equipment, busses and tractors, before moving on to automobiles. He has worked for English, European and Japanese Automobile Franchises

Wil’s spare time is mainly occupied by tramping and swimming. His interests include English classic cars and motorbikes, TradeMe, and music. Wil is the newest addition to the Automotive Solutions Team at Anzac Avenue, and looks forward to meeting you!

Jayson Carmichael – Apprentice Technician

Jayson is our 2nd year apprentice technician working towards his Technical qualifications and can be seen at any of our busy sites.

He has wanted to be involved in working with cars since he was at high school. In his spare time, Jayson’s hobbies are 4WDing, and working on his passion – American Vintage Cars.

Shaun Fairbairn – Workshop Manager, Maori Hill

Shaun has been managing Automotive Solutions Maori Hill since it was established in 2004, and he has been looking after the people of Maori Hill’s vehicles for more than 16 years. He started at the workshop in 1994 (when it was a Mobil petrol station) and in the following 5 years completed his apprenticeship, WOF authority and his ‘A’ Grade qualification.

Over the last six years he has continued to expand his knowledge, attending specialised engine management diagnostic training, and in 2008 successfully completed a National Certificate in First Line Management.

Shaun owns his own home in Mornington with his partner Wendy, and has a 5-year old daughter who attends Maori Hill Primary School.

Bryce Dow - Technician

Bryce has been a part of the Automotive Solutions team for the past three years.

After having completed his pre-apprenticeship course at Otago Polytechnic, Bryce became a qualified Mechanic with us. He is currently working towards becoming an Automotive Electrician.

Bryce’s passions are riding motorbikes, working on cars, and maintaining the house that he owns.

Colin Crayston – Workshop Manager, Vogel Street

Colin has been in the Automotive Industry for 34 years, gaining his “A” grade qualification in England.

Since arriving in New Zealand in 1992, he has become very interested in the Exhaust side of the industry, and specialised in this for 15 years along with brakes and suspensions. Colin has been the workshop manager at Vogel Street for the past 5 years, gaining his Warrant of Fitness authority 4 years ago.

Colin’s interests include motorbikes, travelling in South East Asia, wine and photography.

Damien Robinson – Technician

Damien is a fully qualified A-Grade Mechanic with Warrant of Fitness Authority. He has dedicated 10 years of his life to the motor trade, during which he has worked in Queenstown and Dunedin, and enjoys learning something new every day. Damien’s hobbies are everything to do with cars (mostly Toyotas), hunting and road trips.

Damien's most recent project is his newborn son, which he is very excited about. Damien’s goal is to be the workshop supervisor for a busy and productive workshop.
